Important Change to the University's Payroll Cycle

As the University of Miami continues to streamline its systems, certain business processes will change. Our records indicate that you will be impacted by a change to the University’s payroll cycle. 

What's Changing?
Pay days for all exempt staff at the University of Miami Hospital (UMH) will change from biweekly to monthly, effective August 2014. Your last biweekly pay will be issued on July 31 and will encompass 19 days (five extra days). Your next pay will be issued on August 29 and will include pay for the month of August. Pay will be issued on a monthly basis thereafter. Please note that the transition from biweekly to monthly will begin in June, when the methodology for determining biweekly pay will change from an hourly equivalent to a fraction of the annual salary. As a result, you may notice a slight change in your pay during the months of June and July.

The table below shows the transition period and the schedule for the remainder of the calendar year. Through the end of December 2014, you will continue to be paid through ADP. Please note that pay days will fall on the last business day of the month.

Preparing for the Change
To prepare for the transition, please make plans for bills and/or payments that need to be made or are automatically scheduled and may be affected by the change to the payroll cycle. You are also encouraged to speak with your financial advisor or banking institution to discuss ways in which they can be of assistance.

This transition may result in a short-term financial hardship for some employees. If the process change will create a short-term financial burden for you, please speak with your HR representative about the option of a one-time transition loan. A signed repayment agreement is required to qualify for the short-term loan option and must be returned to Human Resources by Thursday, July 31, 2013, for processing.
